Copenhagen Cool!

So Copenhagen and Stockholm have just had their fashion weeks and from what i have seen they are very promising, but this post i will dedicate wholly to Copenhagen, because frankly i haven't yet seen enough of Stockholm to make a relevant contribution in writing.  So the first port of call is a new label to me but one i won't be forgetting the labels called 'Wood Wood' and the two designers behind it are Karl-Oskar and Brian Jensen [no relation to Peter that i know of?] the brand is based around clean design and street style, Wood Wood have collaborated with major brands such Adidas and Nike and have succeeded in making sportswear beautifully cool.  So what do they offer you for spring/summer 11 well, wonderful 90's-esque prints and shapes in that tracksuit type tackiness that the nineties did provide us with, although these clothes have more of a cool edge with that slouchy coolness certain people pull off. So here you go amazingly cool t-shirt dresses, high waists, big jumpers, short shorts, tracksuits.......

So the next stop on this tour of Scandinavian genius is a thing not to be missed ex-chanel model turned designer Stine Goya, Goya studied at Central St Martins and began her own line in 2006, i admit i only came across this label last season but i instantly fell in love.  And the latest collection doesn't disappoint complete with flower headdresses this collection features cute prints in pastels and corals, bold prints in black and white, and plain pieces in beautiful cuts.  For proper insight into Stine Goya's inspiration and collections check out Goya's simply splendid website: www.stinegoya.com/page/about. But first here's a small peek at the 40 piece strong collection.

So our final stop will be a label that consists of three sisters who play with fantasy, magic and fairytale's to produce designs for their innovative collections for their label 'Minimarket' , this time round they have produced a truly tropical collection [no i didn't expect to type that either].  The headdresses were here as well but aswell as flowers these models donned feathers, sticks and leaves, they also wore pristine prints, cool cuts, amazing glasses i really can't express in words how happy this collection has made me it has everything and fills me with excitement each time i look at it so with out further ado i will let the clothes do the talking because they will tell you all you need to know about Minimarket....

Erin's Amusements.

Erin Fetherston one of my most loved designers has treated us to yet another delightful mini film featuring her latest collection, her first film 'Wendybird' starring Kirsten Dunst wearing one of Fetherston's first collections, [in which Dunst plays a metroplian factory worker who finds a fairy box of clothes and escapes her dull life in them] is wondrous and after this Fetherston has made numerous films for her collections.  The latest of which is called 'Birds Of A Fether' which features Fetherston herself, in this short film Fetherston discovers a sparkly trumpet, with which she collects a number of glamours women, wearing her beautiful clothes, think the pied piper but with elegance, style and charm.  You can see some of her previous films on her website erinfetherston.com and 'Wendybird' is on youtube. So sit back and be amused by this enchanting film and drool over the perfect clothes.

Cosy Knits.

Prada.
Prada.

So I'm ill at home with a cold, and all I'm thinking are cosy thoughts, dreams of knitted, cuddly, warmth.  Most of these thoughts began when I realised the need/want, for a knitted headband much like the ones worn by the models at the latest Prada show.  Although i don't have enough hair to make a giant bun to wear my chunky knit round [yes the chunky knit i don't yet have], i'm sure it would be just as nice as a normal headband or even a smaller one for a littler bun. I've been having a look round for patterns in the hope that i have suddenly developed a great talent for knitting [i'm stretched at knit one, pearl one!], and during my search i found a pattern for a lovely chain link headband,  this seems a little complicated though even with my skills ha, so maybe i'll give this lattice cable headband a go [i won't promise anything]. I also found a pattern for some socks much like those gorgeous Prada ones, i'd really like to knit some but i think it best if i buy them. On my hunt i also found lot's of patterns for knitted loveliness i didn't even know existed or we're needed, i have featured my favourite's below, others i found included knit chockerknit grumpy lump of coal?knit Christmas Pickle Ornament??knit goldfish toilet lid cover?

The Cape Crisis.

Giambattista Valli.
Carolina Herrera.

They're going to be everywhere this autumn/winter and boy do i love them, but which one to buy? Naturally i was thinking Giambattista Valli, Celine, Carolina Herrera, that sort of thing but realistically i can only afford high street although saying that there is a great selection so i'm not too downhearted.  So i've been scouting the net and magazines for my favourite selection on the high street in the hope of buying one tomorrow on a shopping trip, there's such a selection to chose from though do i go long, short, mid, cotton, wool, hood, no hood, short arm, long arm, navy, black, camel, brown???  But i managed to narrow it down [sort of], so i will hopefully be purchasing a cape in the near future [although the whistles one is still a little out of my league i love it].  If none of these end up being my thing or yours i'm sure we're going to be seeing heaps more cape's in stores soon.

A Shining Example.

Whist flicking though my new Elle before reading every page in order cover to cover [i know i have issues], i came across a few pages dedicated to graduate fashion week, and even more to my delight came across Thomas Crisp winner of the menswear award, whom i remember being wowed by during the show, however there were so many excellent collections i regrettably forgot to look up my favorites so am making up for it now.  Crisp's collection was mainly based around high shine leathers, combining them with sharp suits and jackets styled with cool scarves, he said the inspiration [as i read in Elle] came from the underground culture of Parisian 18th century street gangs, known as 'the gilded youth'.  Crisp say's his look is for the chic modern man, he also says that his favorite designers are Rick Owens and Raf Simons, i can definitely see a likeness to them both, with the simple understated lines that Simons uses, but the overall look has a more layered Owens-esque feel about it.  I see big things for Crisp watch this space as they say, i did take some rather disastrous shots at the show, blurred, far away you get the idea so i have found some much better ones to share with you courtesy of vogue.com, even some very interesting images of his magnificent sketch book. Enjoy!

Another Pilotto Partnership.

So again the wonderful Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos are taking part in another surprise collaboration, this time with the colourful bag company Kipling, Pilotto will create a capsule collection of 11 bags and 5 accessories.  I can't wait to see the collection on sale [as of September time], as it's a chance for everyone to own a piece of original Pilotto design but without the too hefty price tag.  Pilotto has created two more extraordinarily vibrant prints for the bags and i very much want anything with the 'Galaxy' print on preferably the rucksack though [i best get saving], although the equally cool 'Machine' print would also make me a proud owner. I wonder how many more exciting collaborations Pilotto and De Vos have up their sleeves, i am happy and a little impatient to wait and see, in the meantime here's some images of their latest collab.

Collaborate, Celebrate!

A little behind the times i know, but i have just heard news of yet another glorious Kirkwood collaboration and i don't think i can wait. Yes as you probably all ready know Kirkwood's new collaboration is with the equally glorious Peter Pilotto and will be a capsule collection of autumn/winter shoes, the collection will debut at Pilotto's spring runway show in London, September.  I do believe Kirkwood has been creating the shoes for Pilotto's last two or three shows but these will be the first collection to go into production.  Anyway this got me reminiscing about Kirkwood's previous magnificent collaborations, Rodarte, Erdem, Liberty so for now i'll have to look over them whist i wait to see what delights are in store later on in the year. Please hurry September i need another Kirkwood fix, i forgot how unbelievably wonderful this man's designers are.

Carven Cravings.

What do you get when French couture house Carven launches their first ever ready to wear collection? Probably one of the chicest, slickest, most sophisticated and elegant collection's i have ever had the pleasure of gawking at.  As i understand it, though i don't know much about this wonderful house, Carven was founded around 60 years ago in Paris by Madame Carmen de Tommasobut and has solely focused on couture until now, with ex-Givenchy designer Guillaume Henry taking the reins we have been blessed with this slightly more affordable collection.  This easy-to-wear collection mainly consists of  perfect coats, beautifully tailored jackets, cocktail dresses and cool high waisted mini skirts all in luxurious camel shades, think Stella McCartney, Celine and Chloe but with more volume and more digestible price tags.  So all thats left to do is let you drool over this masterpiece, whilst i pray someone randomly lends me enough money to buy the whole collection.
